Over the summer I worked as a nanny in Oregon. This opportunity was an incredible learning experience and it helped me to better myself as a recreation professional as well. Being the primary care taker for two children has a way of putting things in perspective and teaches you how to be mindful of what you are doing, and what others are doing around you to ensure the safety of three lives. Knowing where to draw the line to maintain a safe lifestyle is important especially when being a role model. If I try something unsafe, they too will try something unsafe, having the knowledge to talk to them and explain why a decision can have negative consequences was an essential part of my job. Along with making safe decisions for myself, and guiding them towards the right decisions, it is also important to make ethical decisions in a working environment and to keep the outdoors in a quality condition for others to enjoy as well.
Along with the Willi Unsoeld button at the bottom of the page, you will find another button linking you to a letter of recommendation from a previous boss, which is my institutional artifact for this page. The letter of recommendation exemplifies the professional manner in which I hold myself and shows my professional conduct. Remaining professional is one of the most important parts of any job. The kids in the picture above represent my personal artifact. Being self-aware, and remaining professional around them was very important to keep them safe, and ensure their enjoyment as well.
