Program Management

Program management is essential to any good outdoor education event, and as a outdoor leader, it is vital to know how to plan and facilitate an event. Program planning helps to develop many skills including planning, organization, and management. In the outdoor recreation world, planning is crucial. In order to operate in an outdoor setting, you need to have a plan, knowing where you're going, for how long, how much water you need, if you need food, and how to manage first aid are just the basics of any outdoor event. After planning all that, organizing materials and supplies needed are very important for making the experience go smoothly. Managing an event is important in all the stages of preparation, and participation. It is very important to know whats supposed to go where and when.

The button labeled "Tyler's Pool Program" at the bottom of the blog is my institutional artifact for program management. The program I designed is shows the ability to put on a program and the organizational, managerial, and planning skills required to to manage a program. It incorporates a plan, timeline, individual activities, inclusive techniques, and how to run the program. The picture above is an olympic style game day that I was a part of planning and helped to plan. My responsibility in this program was to plan the games and make sure that they ran smoothly, and that is why I chose it as my personal artifact for program planning.
